Disaster Relief

The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is the missional arm of the United Methodist Church that responds whenever a disaster strikes. UMCOR maintains all of the infrastructure needed for disaster response so that, when a disaster occurs, aid can be provided swiftly and the funds sent for certain crises can be used to meet needs in those crises.

Our congregation supports the UMCOR Disaster Warehouse in Decatur, providing flood buckets, layette kits, cleaning buckets, and other supplies that can be prepared before a disaster strikes and distributed immediately when tragedy strikes. Our children, UMW, and various other groups participate in this mission project from time to time.

Through UMCOR we also respond to national and international disasters. You can go to the UMCOR website to donate money directly for any tragedy. When an emergency arises, you can also write a check to the church with the name of the disaster and its project number and we will distribute it accordingly.
