Ready or not, change comes our way. We can try to be prepared for everything, but at some point, we will have to learn to face the future we have (or have been given) instead of the future for which we were prepared. God in Jesus Christ prepared the disciples for the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, but those who heard Peter’s sermon had to discern whether the promised new age of God had just arrived or if the disciples were simply drunk or crazy. Tongues of fire above the heads of the disciples pointed to the presence of God being with these disciples underscoring that this was in fact God’s new era. Hear about how Pentecost is the birthday of the Church and how we can learn to trust in God who makes all things new.
