My God, My God, Why Have You Forsaken Me? – Rev. Mike Holly
Episode 21: God, My God, Why Have You Forsaken Me?- Rev. Mike Holly
After three hours on the cross, Jesus speaks the words from the opening verse of the 22nd Psalm: “my God, my God, why have you forsaken me? The Psalm is one of lament that turns into radical hope and trust in the very nature of God. In the midst of his agony, Jesus begins to likely pray this psalm — identifying with the suffering and pain of the author while also displaying solidarity with all who suffer. Our God knows what it means to suffer and to feel forsaken. No matter what we may feel in this life, God has walked in our shoes.
