Davis
Name: Davis Haines
Job Title: Director of Creative Worship
Briefly Describe Your Job: I will be helping create a worship experience that is inviting, spirited, and moving for our modern service, The Gathering.
What Is Your Background: I have been a professional performing artist for over 15 years. I started as a drummer and percussionist, then became a vocalist, and eventually taught myself guitar. I have lived and worked as an actor and musician in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York, and now I am back in my hometown of Birmingham! I have toured the country in a band and been in over 40 professional theatre productions. I’m also a teacher. I currently teach theatre at Red Mountain Theatre downtown and will be opening up my own music center for young children, Mockingbird Music, in Bluff Park in 2022.
What Is Your Favorite Part Of Your Job: I truly love the way it feels to sing from my soul and to connect with people through music. Whether it is the folks on stage, or in the pews, sharing in the spirit of music-making brings me so much joy!
Tell Us About Your Family: I live in Bluff Park with my wife, Leeann, and my two-year-old daughter, Tallulah. I also have a large extended family: three parents, three siblings (all married, all with kids), and four step-siblings (all married, most with kids). Altogether, we are talking 13 nieces and nephews… when we get together, it’s a party!
Favorite Thing To Do Away From Work: I love to cook. I’ve been cooking since I was a kid and it fills my bucket to make a nice meal for folks. I’m still working on scaling up to a larger group, but I can make a mean meal for two.
