Quinten Lochmann
BRIEFLY DESCRIBE YOUR JOB: As an Associate Pastor, I will assist in many different areas of church life. This includes adult ministries, missions, worship, congregation care, outreach, and really anything else that you can think of.
WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND? Originally, I am from a small town in western New York. I went to the University at Buffalo for undergrad and Duke Divinity School for my Masters of Divinity. After that, I worked for a year at Duke as an event manager for the Divinity School. In 2017, I moved to Alabama to be with my soon-to-be wife and worked at Birmingham Southern College as the Associate Director of Religious Life and Wesley Director. In 2019, I was appointed to Arley United Methodist Church part time in addition to my role at BSC. For the last year and a half, I was the Assistant Executive Director of a food recovery non-profit called Magic City Harvest.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF YOUR JOB? I have loved getting to know this church and meeting so many loving and friendly faces. As I get to know more folks, I love having in-depth conversations with the focus on faith journeys and questions.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY: My wife’s name is Kelly and we met in our last semester of grad school at Duke University. We were married in 2018. She has a biomedical engineering Ph.D. and works for a regenerative medicine company, Organogenesis. We are both transplants to Alabama but are happy to call Hoover home. Together we have a 2-year-old daughter, Maisie, and a bernedoodle named Wallace. Our extended families live in New York and the Carolinas.
FAVORITE THING TO DO AWAY FROM WORK? We are a big sports family, and I am a huge Buffalo Bills fan. Kelly and I met working as grad students with Duke basketball, and we love watching college football, NFL, hockey, and golf. I love getting out and playing a round of golf even though I am pretty terrible at it. I also love exploring coffee shops, reading a good book, or watching a movie.
